Transfer Cars
Transfer cars (also known as transfer carts) are used to move heavy and bulky material across floors, most typically in factories and plants. In production units, transfer cars are used to move partially complete equipment from one cell to the next, sometimes up to 14 transfer cars exist in one line. Not only do transfer cars make it possible to lift heavy equipment, they also safe time and reduce injury by having humans attempt to try and move bulky and heavy loads. There are two types of transfer cars, the non-steerable and steerable. The most basic non-steerable type are typically rail mounted with capacities up to 100 tonnes. Non-steerable are powered by AC or DC battery, while Steerable run off an internal battery. Transfer cars are commonly used in lean manufacturing of large farm equipment and off-road vehicles and equipment.
