Nuts are a type of fastener used with a bolt to fasten two or more parts together when carrying out construction work. A washer is a thin plate with a hole in the middle, used to distribute the load of a nut or bolt and prevent damage to the surface that’s being fixed, provide insulation, or prevent loosening. Nuts, bolts and washers are available in either metal or plastic, and in a range of sizes. Washers can also be made from rubber and are either flat, star-shaped, split or insulating depending on the application.
