Drilling Machines and Accessories
Drilling machines or drilling rigs as they are popularly known are used for drilling holes in the earth sub surface. Drilling machines are used in several industries for drilling water wells, oil wells, natural gas extraction wells and are massive structures in themselves. Industrial drilling machines are quite sophisticated machines as they can test rock, soil and groundwater physical properties, sample sub-surface mineral deposits, and can also install sub-surface fabrications such as instrumentation, tunnels or wells. Most small to medium sized drilling machines used for drilling water wells, blast holes and the ones used in mineral mining are mobile. Although, larger drilling machines such as those used in oil rigs which are used for drilling thousands of metres in earth’s crust are stationary due to their huge size and weight which is often in hundreds of tonnes.
