Electric Hoists
A hoist is a machine used for lifting or lowering a load by means of a dram that is around ropes or chains. In essence, hoists can be defined as any machine that is used to lift heavy materials. Hoists can be operated manually or electrically (or even pneumatically) but electric offers the least labour intensive option and is the most common. Electric hoists are either created with a rope or a chain. Further to this, there is a construction hoist which is a large scale version of the typical electric hoist and is, more often than not, found on construction sites. Finally, a mine hoist is similar in construction to a normal hoist but is used to rise and lower conveyances within the mine shaft. Hoists are used in the building and construction industry, even local builders but use them when repairing roofs to transport tiles. They are used on a wider scale in construction industries and are even used by NASA.
