Linear Bearings
A linear bearing, also known as a linear slide or linear-motion bearing, is a component designed to enable free motion in a single direction in variety of applications. There are many different types of linear bearings and they are available for use in motorized and non-motorized systems. However, the common denominator is that all forms of linear bearings provide free motion in one direction. Linear slides can be powered by hand or by a motor and will utilise various types of bearing to provide linear motion, from ball bearings to dovetail bearings. Linear roller bearings are perhaps the most common. Linear roller bearings are more rigid than plain bearings and require lubrication. Linear bearings are suitable for a variety of uses in industrial applications that require linear movement in a single direction. All linear bearings require lubrication.
