Microelectronics Engineering

Microelectronics engineering deals with the design of small electrical items, for example, circuit boards and microchips. Engineers create samples of new designs and ideas, carry out specific tests and then analyse and report on the information and results provided based on the performance of the new models’ design. Microelectronics can be found in almost everything that we use daily, computers, tablets, phones, vehicles just to mention a few. These tiny electronic components allow us to use devices sufficiently and safely. The devices we use have been designed and tested by experts who continually analyse and develop them to ensure they function as they are supposed to without failing. Many computer companies or technical organisations require the specific and expert knowledge of a microelectronic engineer due to the complex nature of their business. These skilled technicians develop circuits that use small components from millimetres to incredibly small scales of nanometres.
