Paxcon UK Ltd
PAXCON® offers a revolutionary development in Blast Mitigation. Known in military and research circles as an Energy Resistant Coating (ERC), the PAXCON® coating is flexible yet stronger than steel, this means that walls coated with the unique PAXCON® coating can withstand explosions up to 20 times greater than a normal, uncoated wall.

US Air Force Approval
At the F.P.E.D. (Force Protection Equipment Demonstration) show, LINE-X PAXCON® was featured at the Air Force Research Laboratory booth and was demonstrated daily. Air Force representatives stated that LINE-X PAXCON® was the only coating, out of 27 selected, to pass all of their bomb blast tests. Masonry Wall Retrofit
The LINE-X protective coating material is a proprietary elastomeric polymer that is flexible, ductile, and has modest strength. It can be sprayed using standard Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety practices for a hazardous material. The thickness of application is relatively easy to control, and the polymer bonds to a wide variety of surfaces.
We have video and more information on our Masonry Wall web page.
Structural Retrofit
The success of the LINE-X PAXCON® retrofit was so significant that the Air Force Research Laboratory decided to tackle an even tougher problem - improving the blast resistance of lightweight modular structures. We applied the LINE-X polymer to both the outside and inside of a 10-foot by 20-foot construction trailer. 500 pounds of ammonium nitrate-fuel oil (ANFO) explosive were used to generate 12 psi pressures on the trailer, the trailer walls underwent large deflections and the LINE-X polymer protective coating had some tears in the membrane, but virtually no wall fragments entered the occupied space.
See the PAXCON web site for photographic representation.
Spall Lining by LINE-X
LINE-X PAXCON® offers a protective spall-lining (px-2100) that is sprayed onto equipment and body armour such as breast plates. The LINE-X spall-liner is tougher than steel but has the ability to flex. The flexing of the LINE-X coating absorbs the impact of the bullet, stopping the bullet from fragmenting, therefore preventing spalling.
BombBlast Mitigation
PAXCON Blast Mitigation PX3350, is a spray applied protective coatings that has been designed to mitigate the effects of an explosion by containing the fragmented pieces, that cause a huge 80% of injuries during a bomb blast.
PAXCON can be spray applied on to buildings preventing walls from falling down during a bomb blast. This is illustrated in video footage of PAXCON being tested by AFRL on 8ft walls.

Anti Fragmentation Coating
The main killer in a bomb blast is the splintering Fragmentation. The Blast Mitigation protective coating, PX3350, can be applied to buildings and has been designed to mitigate the effects of an explosion by containing the fragmented pieces.
Ballistic Coatings for Concrete Block Walls
In an explosive experiment our experts coated an 8-foot by 8-foot wall inside and out with the LINE-X polymer, and successfully tested it against 80+ psi blast pressures. Unreinforced concrete block infill walls typically shatter and fail at 2-4 psi pressures, but in this case the results were significant.
Modular Buildings Blast Resistant Coating
Air Force Civil Engineers urged AFRL-Tyndall to aggressively pursue a LINE-X polymer retrofit program with a goal of issuing field guidance on retrofitting lightweight structures by summer 2000. These types of structures, characterized by timber stud walls, exterior aluminium siding and interior veneer-plywood panelling, are widely used during extended deployments, such as our forward installations in Southwest Asia.
Anti-Terrorist Coating for Military and Civilian Buildings
Our exclusive coating has already been applied in several major cities around the world on military, civilian and Government buildings including the US Pentagon.

Armour Plate Spall Lining Protection Coating
In our military coatings industry, LINE-X is the only polyurethane material that has received certificated testing by H.P White Labs. The result from these tests showed that PX-2100 sprayed over armour plating at 6mm thick completely prevented every bullet from spalling. On a test to failure at .30 calibre the PX 2100 stopped the bullet from spalling even though the round passed through the steel.
Bullet Protective Spall Linings by LINE-X
This chemical is sprayed onto equipment and body armour such as breast plates, offering a protective spall-lining (px-2100). The LINE-X spall-liner is tougher than steal but has the ability to flex. The flexing of the LINE-X coating absorbs the impact of the bullet, stopping the bullet from fragmenting, therefore preventing spalling.

Structural Material Ballistic Coating
Our innovative coating holds numerous types of structural materials together, including wood, steel, plasterboard, concrete, brick, block and more. In the event of an explosion, the PAXCON® coated walls flex, but stay together.
US Air Force Approved Ballistic Coating
On our specially prepared demo site, two walls 9' x 9' were erected. "They were the typical construction that one would find on mobile military buildings... used extensively in Southwest Asia by the US Military." These were constructed using 2x4 studs, 16" on centre, corrugated aluminium siding, and particle board panelling. As you can see from the photos, one of the two walls (the tan coloured) was coated with PAXCON®. In this test, 50 pounds of TNT was used at a distance of 35 feet. The uncoated wall (white) was destroyed while the PAXCON® wall is unharmed. As you can see from the bottom right photo, the TNT left a substantial crater
PAXCON PX3350 Blast Mitigation Coatings
Designed specifically to minimize and mitigate the effects of an explosion by containing the fragmented pieces, PAXCON Blast Mitigation PX3350, is a spray applied protective coatings that has been , that cause a huge 80% of injuries during a bomb blast.
Energy Resistant Polyurea Coating
In a comprehensive experiment the Air Force Research Laboratory tested Energy Resistant Coatings, and our PX 3350 polyurea coating out performed all 27 other coatings tested.
Masonry Wall Bomb Mitigation Coating
Our elastomeric polymer is highly successful when applied to concrete block walls.
Spray Applied LINE-X Spall Linings
In instances where an object fractures and fragments upon impact of another surface, Spalling happens, for instance when a bullet hits metal armour plating part of the bullet breaks up into tiny shards of metal that fly out at high pressure. It is these shards of bullet that cause injury or even death.
Structural Retrofit Polymer Coating
Recently the inevitable success of the LINE-X PAXCON® retrofit was so significant that the Air Force Research Laboratory decided to tackle an even tougher problem - improving the blast resistance of lightweight modular structures. We applied the LINE-X polymer to both the outside and inside of a 10-foot by 20-foot construction trailer. 500 pounds of ammonium nitrate-fuel oil (ANFO) explosive were used to generate 12 psi pressures on the trailer. If you view our website, the trailer walls underwent large deflections and the LINE-X polymer protective coating had some tears in the membrane, but virtually no wall fragments entered the occupied space.
Vehicle Blast Protection Coating
Air Force Research Laboratories recommend that an 1/8th inch coating, on the front and back of materials, reduces the "stand off distance by over 50%." Therefore PAXCON® should be used for any buildings, structures or vehicles that might get exposed to bomb impact.
