Safety cabinets provide safe and secure storage for a wide variety of items and materials. They ensure the item is kept safe and can also enable the operator to carry out tasks on the material whilst being kept safe from any associated hazard. A form of safety cabinets are Biological Safety Cabinets which include ducted or filtration units which prevent hazardous vapours from entering the environment. These offer both the operator and the product protection from microbiological contamination. Safety cabinets are also used to store chemicals, flammable liquids and corrosives. The size and material used in the safety cabinet will depend on the product being stored, if the product is flammable then the fire retardant safety cabinet will need to meet fire regulations. Safety cabinets are used by many scientific and research companies both commercial and non-commercial. They are essential in such industries as pharmaceutical, medical, agricultural and educational as well as being used in clinical and biotechnology laboratories.
