Mezzanine floors for Warehousing and offices – Norfolk Mezzanine floor Systems

Installing a single or multi-level steel mezzanine floor greatly expands storage capacity in dedicated storage facilities, providing a highly cost-effective alternative to relocating.

We provide multi-tier systems and offer full fire protection, safety barriers and access equipment if required. Made of structural steel, our mezzanine floors are capable of withstanding substantial loads, supporting shelving, racking, pallet trucks etc.

Staircases – Industrial or Elegant public staircases we have a range of staircases to suit applications. all of our mezzanine staircases comply with Building Regulations document part K which considers travelling distance and number of people using the floor.

Mezzanine Floor Decking Types – Depending on the application and product being stored we would suggest a suitable decking type for your mezzanine. Standard floors would be decked out with 38mm Particle Board, but other decking types range from, OSB Board, Forge Welded grating, Durbar Plate, Composite Decking and in extreme loads we can offer concrete slab floors. 

Pallet Gates – Or up and over gates – we can design Pallet Gates to suit your pallet sizes and product being lifted safety and easily onto the mezzanine floor. Protecting your products and of course personnel or staff. 

Column Guards – Robust and strong, high viability colour and fixed directly to the floor around the mezzanine floor columns to protect again collision from a FLT. 

Fire Protection – If the worse happens our fire rating and protection is there is help slow the spread of fire and maintain the structure long enough to allow staff and and pedestrian to exit quickly and safely. Up to 1-hour suspended ceilings, fire walls, staircase enclosures and column casings.

Why do I need to inspect my racking annually?
In order to comply with European Standard EN 15635 Steel Static Storage Systems, you need to have records that prove you have carried out an annual inspection. Application and Maintenance of Storage Equipment provides instruction regarding the inspection of racking structures.
Section 9.4.2.3 Expert Inspections, states “A technically competent person shall carry out inspections at intervals no more than 12 months. A written report shall be submitted to the PRSES with observations and proposals for any action necessary.”

What do I need to check on a weekly basis?
A visual inspection is enough on a weekly basis. EN15635 section 9.4.2.2 Visual Inspections states that “the PRSES (Person responsible for storage equipment safety) shall ensure that inspections are made at weekly or other regular intervals based on a risk assessment. A formal written record shall be maintained.”

What is the difference between the weekly and the annual checks?
Weekly checks can be carried out by a competent member of staff that knows what they are looking for and how to report any findings. An Annual check must be carried out by a technically competent person, with a much greater understanding of pallet racking systems.
Dexion are fully qualified in both weekly and annual inspections as well as being able to train your existing team on how to complete the checklists themselves.

Classification of Damage:

Green: Damage to be monitored

Area within the SEMA allowable limits and does not require a reduction in carrying capacity or an immediate repair system. The area should be recorded for further consideration at the next annual inspection.

Amber: Hazardous Damage

Area where the damage is sufficiently serve to warrant remedial work but not sufficiently serve to warrant the immediate offloading of the rack. Once the load in the area is removed it should not be reloaded until the repairs are carried out. If repairs are not effected in 4 weeks an Amber risk item automatically because a Red Risk Item.

Red Risk: Very Serious Damage 

Areas where a critical level of damage is identified which warrants an the immediate offload of racks, until repair works is carried out.

1. ENQUIRY RECEIVED

When we receive you enquiry either by phone, email or through the website it gets logged onto our system and assigned to the best member of staff to action. Depending on the type of enquiry we may be able to submit a quotation back to you. However in most instance we prefer to attend site, meet in person and discuss in more detail and get a better understanding of your requirements.

2.FREE SITE SURVEY

After agreeing a suitable time to attend site, and complying with your companies PPE/COVID policies. We meet with you and assess your requirements, talk through some solutions and gather a picture of what would be best suited to your business. Before leaving site we survey the area and hand over some literature.

3. DESIGN & LAYOUT

Having talked through the different storage solution and taken site dimensions, your details are then passed to our design/ team who start putting together a CAD drawing and using our in-house technical software start to design the correct storage specification to suit your needs. Our proposed designs are in line with SEMA and load tested by our manufactures. We then present back a couple of options for you to review and make changes should you wish.

4. QUOTATION

Once we have established your preferred option, we provide a written quotation detailing the specification of your requirements. From here we can make tweaks if required and if necessary talk through on site.
